Sound propagation in interconnected urban streets: a parametric study

چکیده

A radiosity model has been developed for calculating the sound distribution in urban streets with diffusely reflecting boundaries. In this paper I present the results of a parametric study by using the computer model. A typical urban element consisting of a major street and two side streets is analysed. The analysis is focused on the characteristics of sound pressure level and reverberation time in the urban element, as well as the effectiveness of the boundary treatments and street arrangements for noise reduction. Sound Wave Propagation in a Multiferroic Thermo Elastic Nano Fiber Under the Influence of Surface Effect and Parametric Excitation

This study investigates that the sound wave propagation of multiferroic thermo elastic Nanofibers under the influence of surface effect and parametric excitation via Timoshenko form of beam equations. The equation of analytical model is obtained for Nanofiber through shear and rotation effect. The solution of the problem is reached through the coupled time harmonic equations in flexural directi...

Numerical simulations of the sound propagation in non rectilinear streets

At high frequencies, the sound propagation can be approximated by the propagation of sound particles which are reflected and absorbed at the boundaries. This propagation follows then a transport process. In urban canyons, this transport process can be reduced to a diffusion process. The resultant model allows one to obtain the spatial distribution of the acoustical energy in a street for a very...

Three-dimensional linearised Euler model simulations of sound propagation in idealised urban situations with wind effects

A three-dimensional numerical time-domain model based on the linearised Euler equation is applied to idealised urban situations with elongated, isolated buildings beside a straight street with sound emissions. The paper aims at the investigation of principle relationships between the source– receiver geometry (street and building facades) and sound propagation under the consideration of ground ...

Comparison of Propagation Models for Small Urban Cells in GSM

The purpose of this work is to compare propagation models for small urban cells in GSM 900 and 1 800, with the aim of testing their behaviour. With this objective in mind, a measurement campaign in co-operation with the Portuguese GSM operator Telecel was carried out in two distinct areas of Lisbon: Arco Cego, characterised by narrow streets with low buildings, and Avenidas Novas, with large st...

Spatial modelling of railway noise propagation

In recent decades, population growth and progress of technology have shaped large and compact urban settlements. Existence of huge transportation systems and developed urban infrastructures are among the most important properties of modern cities. In spite of prompt transit and facilitated daily activities, development of transportation systems causes many problems, including traffic, air and n...
